Basic Life Support (BLS)

Basic life support skills including CPR, AED use, and ventilations. The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

  • This American Heart Association BLS Provider certification training class is an in-person hands-on Advanced CPR training class for individuals who have a job-related duty to respond to emergencies. Participants learn how to recognize and provide care in respiratory and cardiac emergencies for adults, children and infants, with special emphasis on two rescuer, and Multi-Rescuer High Performance Team CPR, use of the bag mask and Automated External Defibrillator AED. This course is required for medical professionals, doctors, physicians, nurses, CNA, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician's assistants, residents or fellows, medical students and nursing students. In the past this course has had the following names, BCLS, BLS for Healthcare Providers. This BLS Provider certification training course also meets the Advanced CPR requirement for New York Summer Camp Health Directors and trip leaders

    BLS is geared towards prehospital providers, like EMTs, paramedics, fire fighters, and in-facility hospital providers. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. Please contact your employer to ensure that you are selecting the correct course. We can also provide this course on-site at your home or workplace. If you have a group of 8 or more people, we will come to you. Discounted pricing is available for groups of 11 or more people.     BLS Provider Skills Session

    This American Heart Association BLS Provider skills session is the in-person hands-on skills portion of the AHA Blended eLearning course called HeartCode BLS and includes the skills practice and testing components. It is conducted in-person after a student completes the HeartCode BLS Online course (sold separately for $34.00).

  • The HeartCode BLS online course is approximately 1.5 hours in length. This in-person hands-on BLS skills session is 2 hours. Purchase and complete the HeartCode BLS Online Learning Course on the AHA website if you have not already done so. Participants must complete the HeartCode BLS online course and bring the completion certificate to the in-perosn skills session class in order to participate.

    Upon successful completion of the skills session, participants will receive the American Heart Association BLS Provider electronic Certificate and eCard via email. Be sure to read these Helpful tips for completing the HeartCode BLS online portion. We can also provide this BLS provider skills session on-site at your home or workplace.
